Mother Tongues Festival 2026 – Open Call for Artists

Mother Tongues Festival is now accepting proposals from artists to lead family workshops on Saturday, 21st February 2026 in Tallaght.

Celebrating Ireland’s cultural and linguistic diversity, the Mother Tongues Festival fosters dialogue, inclusion and joy through the arts. Every year, their programme showcases the richness of Ireland’s artistic and cultural landscape. This year, the theme is “The Power of Story”, and they are inviting artists to share their unique ways of bringing stories to life.

What they are looking for: 
Proposals are welcome across all art forms – music, visual arts, storytelling, traditional crafts, or something entirely different! They are particularly interested in workshops that celebrate languages other than English and encourage active participation. All proposals will be considered, but we will give priority to workshops that clearly connect to one of these processes:

• Creativity and multilingualism
• Languages from shared heritage

Workshop requirements:

• Designed for families (parents/carers and children together).
• Cater to one of these age groups: 2–3 years, 3–6 years, or 6–8 years.
• Fee: €250 per workshop (including materials).
