The National Concert Hall has announced teacher training courses taking place in July 2026.

Musical Play: Teacher Training for Early Years Music

Dates: Monday 6 – Friday 7 July 2026 (3pm – 6pm)
Course facilitator: Helen Blackmore (TUD Conservatory of Music and Drama)
Tickets: €90

This course will provide early years educators and musicians working with young children with the confidence and musical tools to teach music effectively and with ease. The course will develop your skill set using a variety of engaging techniques, so that you have a solid foundation on which to build a deep understanding to pass on to the children in your care.
Learn to use your voice effectively, and revisit (or meet for the first time) the cornerstones of music education in a creative and active way through movement, play and song. Perfect for early years educators and musicians looking to teach with confidence, creativity, and joy.

Creative Music Making for Primary School Teachers

Dates: Monday 6 – Friday 10 July 2026 (9.30am – 2pm)
Course facilitator: Mary Curran (WhistleBlast Quartet)
Tickets: €75

A Department of Education and Skills approved 5 day summer course for primary school and SEN teachers (approved for EPV days).

Aligned with the primary school music curriculum, this 5 day course will encourage and equip teachers with or without a musical background to deliver imaginative, active and educational music sessions in the classroom. The course will deliver practical, hands-on experience in rhythm, percussion, song, composition, “Creative Orchestra”, different instruments, music history, performance and class management; all in an enjoyable and engaging way.
