Cork Community Art Link is a community arts organisation and a registered charity based in Blackpool, Cork city. We encourage meaningful collaborations between artists and people that result in the creation of great art, bringing creativity to places where people live, work and play.

We engage with people to create a sense of community identity, collective pride and cultural inclusion, enabling them to learn more about themselves and the world around them while having fun.

Established in 1993, Cork Community Art Link has developed a strong artistic commitment to participatory work that is viewed in the public space. Engaging with people in their everyday life or as part of public, celebratory events, our work has developed from a need to provide more diverse opportunities and access to the arts for the people of Cork as both audiences and makers.

Founded in 1989, Galway Film Centre is a non-profit, members based organisation dedicated to the development of film as an artistic medium in the West of Ireland. To this end, we support filmmakers, community and youth groups through education and training, equipment provision and information.

 

Cork Film Centre is a resource-based organisation, focused on developing, promoting and facilitating the advancement of creative film and video making. It provides support and access to resources for filmmakers, artists, animators, and those engaged in multi-disciplinary work involving the moving image, with special emphasis placed on developing the area of youth filmmaking. The Film Centre is a not for profit organisation. Services include education, equipment hire, advice and information for artists and filmmakers.

Fighting Words unleashes the creative potential of young people by providing free tutoring and mentoring in creative writing and related arts. Our aim is to help children and young people, and adults who did not have this opportunity as children, to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills.  At its core, Fighting Words is also about something much broader and more inclusive. It is about using the creative practice of writing and storytelling to strengthen our children and teenagers – from a wide range of backgrounds – to be resilient, creative and successful shapers of their own lives.

Fighting Words hosts workshops for primary school kids, secondary school kids and adults with special needs. We host a wide range of special projects and programmes for children and teenagers at weekends, midterm breaks and summer holidays. These can be focused on graphic fiction, scriptwriting/film-making, songwriting, playwriting, journalism, media, radio drama, memoir…. School workshops run for 2 hours, and a typical class of 25/30 students would have a team of ten volunteer tutors, allowing 1-3 support. As much of the creative material as possible is published, either digitally or in hardcopy.

Fighting Words has a formal partnership with the Institute of Education at Dublin City University, working with trainee teachers to help to identify greater opportunities for creative practices within the formal education system.

West Cork Music was established in 1995 and has grown from a small voluntary organisation to a company which is dedicated to bringing the highest calibre of musical & literary experience to Ireland.

Through our education activities, within and outside our festivals, we set out to foster music appreciation in school children; support and train pre-professional classical and traditional musicians; encourage aspiring adult writers, and cultivate a love of reading and writing in young people.

Graffiti Theatre Company is a professional theatre company that creates Theatre for Young Audiences – aged 0 to 18. We are also home to Activate Youth Theatre (15 to 18) Activate Pre-Senior (13 to 15) and Activate Junior (10 to 13) which provide weekly drama workshops that lead to productions. We value participation and champion young voices. Our aim is to provide access to theatre and creativity to all children and young people regardless of social, economical, educational or physical barriers.

Our Creative Learning programmes are delivered in creches, primary and post primary schools. They include: BEAG an early years project which delivers creative encounters in creches, Fighting Words at Graffiti which is a partnership with Fighting Words, delivering free creative writing workshops to primary and post primary students and our Young Playwrights Programme in partnership with the Everyman Theatre and Cork Midsummer Festival.

We provide a range of outreach workshops: Wellbeing, Anti Bulling, Moving On and Raising My Voice. Our You Get What You Give workshop series in partnership with CIT focus’s on setting goals in education for transition year students. We believe that arts provision should be FOR children and Young People as well as BY children and Young People.

Catering for over 300 young people each year aged between 3 and 19 years, WYA offers the opportunity to explore the world of the arts in a fun and engaging way.

Running a series of workshops year-round for all skill levels in Visual Art, Creative Writing, Film, Youth Drama and Dance, young people are taught by experienced tutors who all have years of experience in their respective fields. The arts is a proven way for young people to develop confidence, uncover hidden talents and make some great friends.

But that’s not all, WYA also runs special events including productions, exhibitions, new publications of young writing, films and gives young people the opportunity of working with arts professionals from the industry. There are also lots of chances for young people to explore the technical and support sides to arts events including production, lighting, sound and PR.

 

 

 

 

The vision at the Sligo Academy of Music is to foster a lifelong love and appreciation for music, by providing quality music tuition and performance opportunities for all, in an environment that nurtures creativity and excellence and encourages students of all ages to achieve their musical goals.
