Mother Tongues Festival 2026 – Open Call for Artists
Closing date: 17 October

Mother Tongues Festival is now accepting proposals from artists to lead family workshops on Saturday, 21st February 2026 in Tallaght.

Celebrating Ireland’s cultural and linguistic diversity, the Mother Tongues Festival fosters dialogue, inclusion and joy through the arts. Every year, their programme showcases the richness of Ireland’s artistic and cultural landscape. This year, the theme is “The Power of Story”, and they are inviting artists to share their unique ways of bringing stories to life.

What they are looking for: 
Proposals are welcome across all art forms – music, visual arts, storytelling, traditional crafts, or something entirely different! They are particularly interested in workshops that celebrate languages other than English and encourage active participation. All proposals will be considered, but we will give priority to workshops that clearly connect to one of these processes:

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children
Schools Box Office opens 25 August – 5 September

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children returns to Galway from 10 – 19 October 2025, inviting young audiences, families and schools to experience ten days of imagination, creativity and wonder.

The Schools Box Office
The festival programme has dedicated performances for schools, with subsidised tickets for students, and free tickets for teachers and SNAs. Baboró also provide a dedicated Schools Box Office to assist schools groups with their booking and festival experience.

First Impressions
8 MTHS – 7 YRS | Galway Arts Centre | Jane Hayes | Visual Art
First Impressions by Cork based artist Jane Hayes is a landmark exhibition made especially for early years audiences. Sculpture, textiles, photography and animation come together to reflect how young children truly experience art: playfully, curiously and with all their senses.

FEN
4 – 8 YRS | Bank of Ireland Theatre | Orla Clogher | Theatre
FEN by Orla Clogher is a visually rich and poetic story told through puppetry, shadow play and music. As machines threaten a precious wilderness, one gentle soul rises to protect the last curlew egg with the help of a playful fox. A moving and magical non-verbal experience for schools and families.

Matière(s) première(s) by Compagnie par Terre / Anne Nguyen Dance Company, France is a powerful and thrilling dance show blending street and African dance, exploring heritage, resilience and connection. A breathtaking celebration of movement for young and old.
