The Creative Learning Team at Graffiti have been busy planning Make & Explore, a new series of theatre workshops for primary school classes and their teachers through 2026 and 2027.

Available all year round

Make at Graffiti in Cork is an opportunity for children discover, explore, and make a piece of theatre together, and to present it. Make builds a relationship between the Graffiti team and the class group, where the children work as co-creators with professional artists.

Using their wealth of knowledge and resources, the Graffiti Team suggest a topic, theme or prompt for these programmes. Then they plan a bespoke workshop or programme of workshops around the needs and interests of the school or class group.

All of the Make workshops for schools have fun and creativity at the core, and are designed to amplify the voices of children, boosting their confidence and giving them an opportunity to discover a new skill. They are great for exploring new themes or topics, and for making connections with the drama curriculum.

Explore is a deeper dive into a theme, topic, or prompt. The Graffiti Team use theatre techniques to research alongside the children, responding and creating together. It’s similar to what they do when they begin to develop a piece of theatre; exploring from different perspectives using a wide range of activities.

Explore is a longer engagement, where children have ownership of the project, being active decision-makers along the way. It celebrates their voices and builds community. Through improvisation, devising, writing and movement exercises, participants develop skills in drama and theatre, while also exploring communication, collaboration and creative expression. The format can be adapted to suit the needs, interests and age group of the participants.

Graffiti is based in Cork but the team are available to travel to schools.
