Dublin Book Festival: Schools Programme 2026

Dublin Book Festival
Date: 4th – 8th November 2026

One of Ireland’s most successful and dynamic book festivals celebrates 20 years with a gathering of Ireland’s writers and publishers, working in Irish and English. It showcases, supports and develops Ireland’s writers and publishing sector by programming and promoting Irish books and their authors, editors and contributors, all in an entertaining, festive, friendly, and accessible environment.

This year’s Dublin Book Festival includes 13 events for schools. This programme features a variety of events including:

• Fighting Words Story Workshop, a participatory workshop for 2nd to 4th class.
• Gaelach agus Glórach, a creative session for TY with Máire Zepf where the students will write their own poetry as Gaeilge.
• Peng and Spanners: Dr Biscuits!, a silly event for 2nd to 4th class, where author-illustrator Steve Webb talks through his creative process from the initial idea to printed book.
• Detective Thingy Majiggy, fun packed event with bestselling author Cecilia Ahern based around Detective Thingy Majiggy, the first book in her new series. (4th to 6th class)
• An Spórt agus an Réabhlóid in Éirinn, an event as Gaeilge for TY to 6th year students in partnership with Irish History Teachers’ Association, Students will gain insight into this important period in Irish history through discussion, their own questions, and analysis of historical sources.
• Nadia Islam, On the Record, a discussion with award-winning author Adiba Jaigirdar, finishing with a short quiz and time for questions.
