LSAD Teacher Education Conference & Exhibition

LSAD students hang artwork for teacher education conference and exhibition 2026

Limerick School of Art & Design (LSAD)
Art Education Conference & Exhibition

30 April – 7 May 2026

How can the classroom connect with sites of interest?

LSAD Teacher Education Department are delighted to welcome Rayne Booth and Joe Caslin for an ‘in conversation’ event to share their insights on how the classroom connects with sites of interest – as part of the annual LSAD Art Education Conference & Exhibition on Thursday 7th May 5.00 – 7.30pm.

The closing event conference runs alongside an exhibition showcasing work from second level students countrywide who engaged with student teachers on the LSAD Bachelors of Education and Professional Masters in Art Education programmes over this academic year. Entitled ‘Wanted for Always’, the work will be launched by exhibition curator Fiona O’Dwyer.

Alongside the student exhibition, BEd graduate 2025 Isabel Gill will present ‘Land-made’, a body of work created during the LCGA Artist-Teacher Residency Award. Her practice explores institutionalisation from a rural perspective, drawing on lived experience of agricultural systems, land use, inherited relationships to place and how land carries visible and invisible records of intervention. This dynamic body of work will be on display from Thursday 30th April – Thursday 7th May.

Also on Thursday 7th May, Dr Robert Kilroy will lead a round-table discussion with LSAD Initial Teacher Education staff Brendan Egan, Bairbre Geraghty, Edel Hogan, Shelagh Honan, Deborah Mc Donagh, Ciarán Power, Brendan Roddy, and Lucina Russell. They will explore ‘Singing to the Instinct: A pedagogical turn in art practice and how art practice and teaching can be rooted to the materiality of the land’ from 1.30-3pm.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with thought leaders, explore innovative approaches to art education, and appreciate the creativity of young artists.
