Your Gallery at School and in your Community 2026/27

The National Gallery of Ireland, together with its Schools Partner SMBC Aviation Capital, is delighted to announce the callout for applications for the Your Gallery at School and in your Community programme for 2026/2027. This programme presents an exciting opportunity for young people to engage with the national collection to enhance creativity, and develop their education.

The programme brings the national collection into classrooms and community settings across Ireland through co-created artist-led projects. Successful schools will work with a professional artist to develop a bespoke project inspired by the national collection and their local area. Projects are tailored to participants’ needs and informed by the national curriculum.

Applications are open to all schools and educational settings for children and young people under 18, with encouragement for those working with communities facing educational disadvantage or other barriers.

The National Gallery of Ireland is committed to making art education accessible to every child and young person. Through an ethical and inclusive approach, artist-led experiences and meaningful engagement with the National Gallery of Ireland, these programmes foster creativity, confidence and belonging while expanding access to high-quality arts education across Ireland.

How it works:

Your Gallery at School and in your Community operates nationwide and is open to primary and secondary level schools, special education schools, and alternative education settings including afterschool groups, frontline service groups, and youth groups. Chosen groups will be paired with an artist facilitator who will travel your location and facilitate special tailored inclusive workshops.

All projects will include: 

• A virtual tour of the collection
• Tailored art making workshops
• Art materials provided
• Post project opportunities

How to apply

Applications open 24th August and close 11:59pm on 23rd October. Schools will be informed of the outcome of their application in November 2026.
