National Childhood Network (NCN) are delighted to once again partner with Tradoodle Festival and Ceol Connected to invite Early Childhood Care and Education settings from across the island of Ireland to join us for a live online dance workshop with dancer Oran Leong.

As I reflect on the event, I come away feeling both confident and proud. Proud of the work we are doing in National Arts in Education. Proud of the direction of curriculum reform, where creativity is no longer sitting at the edge of the conversation but is becoming embedded within it.

Our 11th annual National Arts in Education Portal Day will take place on Saturday, 7 November at East Quad, TU Dublin, in partnership with TU Dublin School of Art and Design. This year’s event, titled The Future is Creative: Why arts and creativity in education matter more than ever, features a panel discussion, plus multiple creative workshops and presentations. My biggest takeaway from ITAC8 was a renewed understanding of how important arts and creativity are in education. Not only for developing the arts in Ireland, but for the wider impact arts education can have on communities and young people.

UCD School of Music: UCD Composition Prize 2027
The UCD School of Music has officially launched the fourth year of the UCD Composition Prize. The competition offers secondary school students across Ireland the opportunity to have their music performed in the National Concert Hall, with cash prizes awarded to the top three winning pieces. The competition is open to Transition Year, 5th and 6th year or A-Level students studying anywhere on the island of Ireland.
