Programme Announced for 2026 National Arts in Education Portal Day

Programme announced for National Arts in Education Portal Day 2026

We are delighted to announce the full programme for our 11th National Arts in Education Portal Day taking place on Saturday 7 November 2026 at East Quad, TU Dublin, in partnership with the School of Art and Design.

Bringing together professionals from the arts and education sectors, this free, full-day event offers a space to exchange ideas, share knowledge, foster connections, find inspiration and explore best practices for integrating arts and creativity into education.

This year’s event explores the theme “The Future is Creative: Why arts and creativity in education matter more than ever”, with a panel discussion, creative workshops and presentations throughout the day.

The event will open with a panel discussion chaired by Phil Kingston, Arts in Education Portal board member and Community and Education Manager at the Abbey Theatre, with panellists Jo Mangan, Director of The Performance Corporation; Nathan Geszczak, a young person with a strong passion for the arts; Kate O’Shea, a multidisciplinary socially engaged artist; and Suzanne Little, Professor in the School of Computing at Dublin City University.

Following the discussion, participants can explore a variety of inspiring presentations and hands-on creative workshops across three parallel sessions. Some highlights include: Presentations discussions such as Eng-AGE: Young at art with artist and educator Paula Mongey, artist Ciarna Hackett, teacher Fiona Mason and Transition Year students from Kingswood Community College and residents of TrustUs Senior Care; and See Hear Play: Technology, AI & Inclusive Creativity with teacher Fidelma Morris and assistive technology expert Karl O’Keeffe.

This year’s creative workshops include Poetry And Film: Embracing the Old and the New with writer and director Jonathan Farrelly; and Sustained, a playful drama workshop with playwright and screenwriter Gillian Grattan.
